Based on the dimensions, couldn't this be used to secure horizontal 2x4s to a vertical 4x4 post? Why does it say only for a 2x4 post?


Hi Nat, this is Bekah from Simpson Strong-Tie. The APRTC2 is designed that the 2x4 joists terminate at the post. Therefore if the post was 4x4 then one side; the side that is normally 1.5"; is going to prevent the 2x4 joist from sitting where it should in the connector and in return not giving the loads that we specify.
