Can microwave be installed over the range


We have had this unit since 2009. It is over a gas range. We installed a tempered glass shelf below the microwave, about 3 inches from the bottom of the unit (in line with the bottom edge of the cabinets on both sides). It allows heat to dissipate, it allows the light to illuminate the range, and it also protects the unit from the range - while providing a washable shelf to place cooking utensils and oven mits. This has worked great for us, and we use our Sharp heavily.
