Is there any way to prevent this from activating due to temperature change? When the heat comes on it activates the sensor and turns the light on.

This is the way the sensor works. Passive-Infrared (PIR) Sensors see heat in motion, so assuming the air coming out of the diffuser is hotter or colder than the ambient, the PIR sensor will pick it up. The major requirement would be that you do not want it so close to the diffuser that air is actually blowing on the sensor housing. You would need to place the occupancy sensor at least 5 to 6 feet away from any air vent or big fan to prevent any false triggers from occurring.
