Why can't staimaster leakdefense carpet be used on stairs?

STAINMASTER LeakDefense carpet is designed with a moisture barrier to help prevent spills from soaking through, but it’s not recommended for stairs due to its construction and backing. The specialized waterproof backing can be too rigid for proper installation on stair treads, which require more flexibility for secure adhesion and fitting.
