will muriatic acid remove rust stains from concrete

It is very harsh and will erode the concrete and poses some handling risk. Powdered oxalic acid. 1 cup per gallon of water is far more effective, safe, and doesn't kill vegetation. dampen concrete spray on. Can rinse if desired after about 15 min but not required.

However when you dissolve the concrete you remove the substrate the rust is sticking to thus removing it. Would not recommend hydrochloric acid as it does not contain hudroflouric acid or phosphoric acid and will not dissolve the rust, thus if you do not get it all off of the patio or whatever you are trying to remove it from, it will bond to the already cleaned patio and will I turn make more rust stains
