I realize this is paint and primer in one. However, per the specs, it doesn't prevent rust. I'm painting metal filing cabinets. Can I use primer?


Happy to help. Before applying Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint to a metal filing cabinet, you can prime with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer. Apply two or more light coats of the primer a few minutes apart, then apply two or more light coats of the 2X Ultra Cover in under 1 hour of the last coat of primer, or after 48 hours.
