can i add sand to restore for better footing on the steps

I don't think that is necessary. If you use the recommended roller cover there is sufficient texture. I did not add any sand to my steps and have never had a slipping problem.

If directions are followed, the steps will have great footing as mine do. my deck steps were always slick when wet, no problems since I applied Restor X10

You shouldn't need to add any sand. This stuff is thick and feels as though it has plenty sand in it.

It already has sand in it. Once you use this product you will see there is no need to add more.

Please do not add anything additional to the Restore product. We also advise watching the new prep video and application video displayed on the Rust-Oleum YouTube channel prior to application.
