Happy to clear this up, Erik! For surfaces coated with the Rust-Oleum Home Countertop Coating. We suggest the use of a trivet or other protective material underneath all hot cookware and heated objects. Also, use cutting boards or other protective surfaces when preparing food. Heavy pounding, knives or other sharp utensils may scratch the surface. Do not allow water to pool for extended periods and clean up hot grease and any spills with a cloth or non-scratch abrasive pad. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 15
