can you put lacquer over it the house has a fames pass owen and I am trying to keep it like he had it

Happy to help, Dawn. Zinsser B-I-N Shellac Based Primer can be top coated with any oil or water based paint, a stain cannot be applied to B-I-N. Stains need to penetrate a porous surface, such as wood, they are not a film forming coating like paint. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6
