What is the depth of the vertical bracket? I have an older silver colored system and just purchased the 9" shelf but the brackets included are too deep to engage the mounting slots before hitting the drywall.

I was expecting your answer to be either 3/4" or 1". The older vertical shelf brackets I have on the wall stick out (off the wall) 3/4". It appears that the new system design is now 1". The shelf brackets that came with the new 9" shelf are designed for a 1" wall bracket. Oh well.
