Does water permeate the rubber material? I want to make sure water gets at the truck base of new trees.

Yes water flows thru easily
Was this Answer Helpful ?Yes - the rings are made of course grind recycled tires. Water will easily pass through.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Not thru the rubber. Water permeates the seam and around the trunk only. My Southern Magnolias are doing well with the rings and require a lot of water to thrive.
Was this Answer Helpful ?It is porous material so water does get in.
Was this Answer Helpful ?It is porous and is compressed, shredded rubber, not a solid mat of rubber. It is made from recycled tires. It comes in more than one size and can also be cut to fit the size of the trunk as the tree grows larger. Pretty good deal for recycling and also does not need to be replenished each year like regular mulch that breaks down. It also will not wash away like regular mulch, as well as prevents weed growth and, therefore, no trimming and no trunk damage and makes it easy to mow around the tree.
