Was this Answer Helpful ?Yes, it locks in place. That's the whole purpose in it, so you don't have to move it somewhere else. The shelf locks in place and you use your machine right on it.
Was this Answer Helpful ?No there is no interlocking device, the shelf is held in place with adjustable spring tension. The mixer can be used in the up position, removing it from the shelf is not necessary unless the electrical outlet is to far away.
