Can you use a 8,000 watt run gen. with a 30 amp transfer switch


Yes, you will get only the 30 amps to power your house. Example: 220Volts X 30 Amp = 6,600 watts max. Mine has a 50 amp outlet, 220Volts X 50 Amp = 11,000 watts max, or for a 8000 watt generator 8000 running up to your surge amount that is less than 11000 watts.
