What happens when power to the house goes out, is there a backup to keep the time in unit

Yes, there is a backup battery in the unit. As with other brand units, this battery keeps the date/time/programming, but does not have enough juice to actually run the sprinklers. During installation you pull out a yellow plastic strip that allows the battery to connect into the circuit. The AC power keeps this battery charged.

Was this Answer Helpful ?Most all Iris sensors have batteries, this one included. If power goes out in the house, this unit will still have the current time . The batteries are probably good for at least a year based on my experience . The Hub has enough battery power for about an hour. Since we have have experienced NUMEROUS longer duration power outages in our location, I plugged my Hub into a standard PC battery backup device. Once power is restored, nothing is lost since the program is on the net (NOT in the Hub or individual devices).
