How do you remove the black caps at the end of the 6 drippers? I can't pull it off with my fingers or with pliers.

The black caps on the grey manifold may be connected together, in which case you need to snip them apart first. They should then be pulled of with pliers. The drippers themselves do not come apart; they are to be remain as is.
