The P32S In-line Spring Check valve is a unidirectional valve.  There is an arrow on the side of the check valve, indicating the flow direction.  Installation in a PVC system should be in accordance with the instructions from the PVC primer and cement manufacturer.  There are many variables to consider, when determining the positioning of the valve, in proximity to pumps.  If this is an issue, it is recommended that you consult a plumbing contractor.
