Does it need a magnetic starter? What size circuit breaker is required?


It does not need a magnetic starter. I mounted mine on rubber vibration pads and bolted it to the floor loosely mainly to avoid it walking. I also mounted a 3 stage inline filter on 1/2 rubber flex hoses. Quincy does not specify the circuit breaker size but I can tell you the motor is rated at 21 amps and it pulls 20.5 amps running at 241 volts. I hooked mine up to a 40 amp breaker with 8 awg wire just to not get voltage drop at startup but I suspect you would be fine with a 30 amp breaker. The people that say it needs 50 amps are just wrong. The internal wiring is only 10 gauge which is rated for 30 amps.
