Is this tarp water proof / resistant?

Thank you for your question. Canvas drop cloths are often confused with tarps or tarpaulins. Tarps are typically used in outdoor applications and have been specially treated or have an under layer to make them mold and mildew resistant, along with providing a degree of water resistance. Unfortunately, canvas drop cloths are not water proof or resistant as they are constructed from cotton and do not have this barrier layer. Canvas drop cloths will provide surface protection from small spills or spatters, but liquids that are allowed to sit will eventually seep through if ignored.
Was this Answer Helpful ?No. Not sure what you're trying to do, but if it's a tarp for long term / outdoor protection you're looking for, drop cloths aren't what you need. If you ARE looking for indoor protection (while painting, for example), look for rubber- or plastic-backed drop cloths. This particular one doesn't have that backing.
