It will be very close. The outside dimensions of the front plate are 6 1/4 X 6 1/4. So if you center the holder, you will have 1/8 " overlap on each of the 6" wide sides. The bracket tightens up pretty good, so if you really want to, you could put a little silicone around the opening so it will be sure not to slip and give it a try. The inside bracket by the way measures 6 3/4" vertically. Good luck.
