Hello, is it 100% water proof? I ask because it sure don't look like it is, due to those pass-through hole in the lid?

It states water resistant, but they are not water proof. While they may keep some water out, it isn't sealed to keep all water out.

No, I keep them outside. If it rains, and it's windy, contents may get wet

No, I found out the hard way -- put my Christmas lights in them and put the totes in my shed that apparently has a roof leak. The sterilite totes that I had in there that feature a lip over the edge didn't get water in them but these were full of water. Keep them out of the elements, otherwise they are great totes for indoor/garage storage.

Only containers with rubber gaskets are rated as waterproof. “Weather Resistant” is the best that any company will guarantee otherwise. That being said, if you stack these above the typical “splash zone” (14” off the ground) and strap or zip tie the through holes, you can get pretty good protection from these...the rim acts as a good drip edge... It’s the splash back from puddles on the ground that will get ya...even my job box gets yet inside if you stack stuff against it... Even in a quick deluge and you should be alright...
