Will this container last if kept outside?

These totes are not recommended to be outside for a long period of time.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The plastic lid will harden from sun and elements over time and it will crack. Water can then leak inside. Water will collect on the lid as it's recessed. I received this box aft it was converted to a feral cat shelter. It's great for that btw. I used trash bags to cover the lid and sealed those together w/duct tape. Kitties now stay warm and dry. The lid overhang acts as an awning over the entrance cutout. Great box for the price.

Was this Answer Helpful ?I've had mine outside, but cover with tarp
Was this Answer Helpful ?We are using 2 of these under our teak grill cart outdoors. If we didnt have a grill cover I think the boxes would collect water on the lid since the lids are made to stack they are recessed.
Was this Answer Helpful ?It's a heavy duty plastic, and would probably last under an overhang, but if it's exposed to the elements it may not be your best option...the lid sits a little lower than then the edge of the bin. It may end up collecting rain water.
Was this Answer Helpful ?I store the two totes under a tarp outside or in the bed of my truck. My truck has a shell on it. So far everything inside stays dry. I bought the totes a few years ago.
Was this Answer Helpful ?UV rays will eventually break down the plastic of any container. Simple measures to keep them from direct sunlight should greatly increase their useable life. I keep mine in the garage or in my utility shed. I have had four of the totes for over four years and they have shown no breakdown. I expect them to last many more years.
