Is this light supposed to have a low glow when the light switch is turned off? First LED light and not on a dimmer. Thanks.

Hi whateverrrrr, Thanks for reaching out! A faint glow when the switch is off can happen with some LED fixtures, even if they’re not on a dimmer. Here’s why—and how to fix it: Why It’s Glowing Switch Type: If you have a smart switch, timer, or illuminated switch (with a tiny LED indicator), these can leak small amounts of current, keeping the LED driver partially active. Standard toggle switches shouldn’t cause this unless faulty. Wiring Issues: Reversed hot/neutral wires (common in older homes) can create residual voltage. Shared neutrals or proximity to other wires might induce stray current. Fixture Design: Some integrated LEDs retain a tiny charge in their driver capacitors, causing a brief glow that fades. How to Fix It ✅ Test the switch first: Swap to a basic, non-illuminated toggle switch to rule out current leakage. For smart/illuminated switches, a bypass capacitor (added by an electrician) can resolve this. ✅ Check Wiring: Ensure the hot wire (black) is connected to the switch, not the fixture’s neutral. An electrician can verify this. ✅ Add a Load Resistor: A small resistor (installed by a pro) can absorb stray current. If the glow persists, contact Lowe’s or UT Brand Support—we’ll help troubleshoot or arrange a replacement if needed. Warm regards, UT Brand Support at Lowe’s
