The specs say it requires two 14 watt A15 bulbs. 14 watts sounds dim and the bulbs look small when I search them online. Are they truly bright?

I posted an answer already but realized that I did not actually answer your question. The bulbs that I have in mine are LED 60 watt equivalents and they are plenty bright for the area of the room they are in (10'x10'). The entire room however is 25'x20' which tapers down on one wall until it gets to the 10' section where this light is installed. The larger portion of the room has a ceiling fan with 4 bulbs, so it's hard to say if this fixture alone is bright enough for a large room. Everyone has different preferred lighting levels, so the real question is whether or not two 60 watt equivalent LEDs are bright enough for you.
