Why are all these grab bars NOT 16 or 32 or 48 inches long--made to install on studs that are 16" on center? Ridiculous!

Grab bar is that size because you will install it diagonally between 2 studs.

I have thought that myself, but on reflection, installing a 24" bar at an angle between 16" studs makes for a wider flexibility of 'heights' for the grip, and is extremely strong. Most of mine have been installed vertically on a stud.
