Yes, these are water resistant.
Was this Answer Helpful ?ABSOLUTELY NOT if in the weather or sun. CURRENT LIDS are tight and breakable. DEFECTIVE LIDS DEC 1 2019. TWO stacked boxes could easily crash down through and into the box below.
Was this Answer Helpful ?While the tubs are waterproof, there is always the chance they could leak if you don't secure the lid properly. In addition, because of the design of the lid, it sits with a recessed area which would hold water that would have to be either sponged off or soaked up with a towel. You could dump the container over and drain water from the lid but then you risk the chance of knocking the lid loose and getting water on your items. That being said, with care, they will work quite well. Lids fit pretty snugly.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Don't put photo albums on it, if you put it in basement. This box cant block the air inside, if high humidity, you items will get damage. but for tools, items storage, this product good enough.
Was this Answer Helpful ?As long as you don't stack over 5 high and don't forget to strap them down so the don't fall over. I've done it both ways and learned through mistakes to always strap these totes down, period. If you do then yes it will keep your items safe. One other issue is if you live where the temperature's stay at 100 or more and there is dry heat the tote tops begin to breakdown get brittle and yes do crack, break shatter...I've also been buying these totes since they came out with them...years
Was this Answer Helpful ?I wouldn't recommend these for water resistant storage. For a move these would be fine and can be taped up so the lid doesn't come off. The locking feature is okay but if you don't remove the lid with the correct technique the catch will break and damage the lid.

Was this Answer Helpful ?I packed all my photo albums, crystal, and very fragile figurines, and safely moved across country with no issues.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The slots thru the lid and rim can and do admit water, and are worthless for theft protection. With as many of the best padlocks as you can fit, any 10 year old could break into it with a razor knife or even a pair of scissors. They might keep the water out in a straight down shower, but definitely not moving down the road unless tarped or shrinkwrapped.
Was this Answer Helpful ?I can only tell you what I use the Commander 27-Gallon Tote with Standard Snap Lid for: I have fire wood in one tote and axe, saw, etc. in the other tote. I did not secure the totes and one tote fell over on its side and the lid stayed on while in the bed of my truck. I don't think these totes are water tight just water resistant. You could store your keepsakes in a plastic zip bag (the kind you suck the air out of) and then store it in a tote. Other than that you would need to purchase a water tight case. These can get expensive depending on the brand and size.
