can this be used on a wood subfloor?

yes works great, have some that has been in place for several years, just make sere if you are removing carpet to remove all staples and nails before putting underlayment down.

Was this Answer Helpful ?Sure. The only caveat would be that this foam does include a vapor barrier backing. If you are in an area with very high humidity and moisture can reach your wood sub-floor from under the wood (like with a wood floor over a basement), I would be cautious about vapor barriers. You do not want to create a situation where trapped moisture can develop mold or fungus in your sub-floor. Now that I've seen your complete question in the preview mode I will add that if your wood sub-floor is very level and flat you should not have to use an underlayment. I find that in all applications the underlayment results in a quieter walking floor. The high quality underlayments probably handle vapor better than this microfoam plastic backed roll underlayment.
