I bought a new filter to replace the cracked housing but I can't unscrew the old one. Any tools available to unscrew this?

There are no tools as the unit is to always be hand-tightened. You can try to heat the head assembly very gently to see if that will work. We would suggest you turn your water off in the event you break the housing.
