I don't understand how to attach it to the 4 x 4 post? I don't see any holes for the screws.

Latest version has self tapping screws, just drill them in. You wont need all 4, and it does not really matter where you drill them
Was this Answer Helpful ?When you screw the mailbox arm and the planter arm into the post, the screw will go into the 4x4 post and it will be attached.

I used all eight of them (two on each side) down near the base of the post, about two inches apart and about two inches above ground level. If you use a power drill, they go in like a knife through butter (be careful not to overdrive them). With a hand screwdriver, you may want to make a starting mark with an hand awl or sharp nail to keep the screw from walking while the tapping feature does its work. Don't forget to put the little plastic caps over the screws before you drive them in. Just put the screw through the hollow part of the cap. After the screws are in, fold the plastic covers over the screw heads and snap them closed. It looks real professional when you're done!
Was this Answer Helpful ?There should be some self tapping screws that came with the kit. I would suggest one screw in the front and back and one screw in each side. Remember where the 4X4 post stopped to make sure you anchor into it. I believe the screws were 1 1/4" long.

"Corner" the PVC to the wooden post so that there is no gap on two sides between the two. On those two sides, Install two screws. Install one 6 inches above the ground and 2nd one 6-8 inches above the first one. Then install same way on adjacent side." Thus, the holes aren't already there, but you can make them yourself. I ended up using an electric drill but theoretically could have screwed them in by hand. Written instructions weren't clear to a complete novice like me, but I'm sure it would be obvious to most. I was extremely impressed by customer service. Happy with attractive result too, at a reasonably price!
Was this Answer Helpful ?Use included self-tapping screws and just drive them on all four sides anywhere on lower area of post. They drill right into the 4x4. Don't forget to use the included screw caps.
