no, you can place then as close as 2 -3 feet just no closer than lengh of cord coming from light stake. first light can be as close so as to be convienent to placement of transformer which is weatherproof like the exterior electrical plug you use on deck/porch for the power source.

Was this Answer Helpful ?First off, my transformer is about 8 feet from the first light, and my lights vary from about 3 feet to 5 feet apart. I think ( but don't have my manual handy) the minimum recommended light separation is 18". My Transformer is plugged into an outside outlet fully exposed to the elements, with no adverse problems. I did mount the transformer alongside the outlet.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Yes, the 10ft distance is correct. The product is not rated as waterproof so to avoid damaging the product consider using an outdoor, water proof rated box. Consult the installation guide for more information.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The requirement is for there to be 10 feet of wire between the transformer and the first light. This amount of wire can be coiled up near the transformer if wanted. The fixtures after the first light do not have to be 10 feet apart from each other. They can be placed on the low voltage cable without any distance restrictions between the lights. The Transformer is designed and built to be mounted outdoors, so rain should not have a negative impact on its performance. Just reference the instruction manual for mounting instructions.
