what gauge wire is best 16 or 18 ?


Depending on usage.... 16 gauge is slightly heavier wire and will carry more amperage. Be cautious on what you anticipate powering and the size of circuit breaker being installed with and this circuit. Overloading the circuit using a heavier than rated breaker for the wire can cause a overheated circuit and even a fire or worse. A 10 amp breaker or "Ground Fault" breaker would suffice.
