Minwax PolyShades Oil-based Honey Pine Semi-transparent Gloss Interior Stain ( Half-pint )
Can this be used with a sprayer? I am planning on doing the interior of a newly built barn and just thinking spraying might be faster.

Hello. We do not recommend spray application for any of our products that are not packaged in an aerosol container for multiple reasons. First and foremost, our products have been designed for brush-on application only and have only been tested as such. We can not guarantee pleasing results when applied using a differing application process. Secondly, in order to utilize a spray application, you will need to thin our products. This is not advisable because adding foreign solvents to our products will change the formulation, including the V.O.C. level of the product. The government strictly regulates the amounts of V.O.C.'s allowed in products, so adding more solvents (main contributor to V.O.C's) could make the product illegal. And there is always the danger of spontaneous combustion. Too many solvents in a product can lower the flash point threshold, making handling the altered product extremely dangerous. A third reason, though not as dangerous, is that brush-on application of our product in a non-aerosol container is really the way to achieve the best finish. Spraying our product will give it more time to dry in the air before it reaches the surface of your project as it is not formulated to account for this type of exposure. Spraying can result in a "dust" of tacky product adhering to the surface of your project instead of the uniform coating, which is why this is not recommended. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. For the best possible finish using our products, you should apply as directed on the product labels. Regards, Minwax Customer Support
