Can you use this if you want to connect only 3 hoses? is there a way to shut off the valve on the 4th port?


Yes. As long as you don't have an outlet programmed, it won't run. Having an unused outlet can be handy if you need to fill a bucket, or something, without having to go get the sprinkler at the end of a hose.
