How to remove the regulator from the manifold?

I felt like the whole grill was going to break trying to unscrew mine as well. This was after one of the nozzles broke off after trying to screw one in. It just needed a lot of force, and muscle but it eventually came off after I cut off the hose and used a heavy duty, 3/4 inch deep ratchet.

Use large crimp or plumbers pliers at brass end of hose entering manifold and turn counter clock wise as you would when opening any connection. Insert Nat Gas Hose. Thanks
