The covers will help if you get ones that will fit well. You need to landscape so that the water drains away from the windows also.

Some will and some won't. Obviously, the plastic ones will be better than the bars. If you know for sure that water is coming into the window well from above, then the plastic dome covers will help. Your window well should be draining so this doesn’t happen. That’s your real problem.
