Does this switch require 12-3 wire or can you use 12-2 wire

The Diva Fan Control and Light Switch (DVFSQ-LFH) requires separate wires for the lighting and fan loads, so a 12-3 wire is required in the wallbox where this unit will be installed (one wire for power, one for the lighting load, one for the fan load).
