is the green light suppose to blink every few seconds?


Yes, the LED light on the interior of the side of the lock will flash amber to indicate locked, green to indicate unlocked, and red to indicate low battery. If you prefer the LED light not to flash, it can be disabled by pushing the small dip switch #1 on the interior side down to the Off position.
