If your lock has a slot to the left of the key insert, then your lock is a SmartKey lock.

The Kwikset rekeying kit is specific to locks with Kwikset SmartKey technology. The Smart Key product has a secondary small slot located to the left of the key hole, if there is no secondary slot it does not have the Smart Key capability.
