Just got this as a gift, my first router. I’m trying to install a 1/4” router bit but it slides right out, won’t tighten down. Am I missing something?

you have to put the 1/4 collet and bit in the main collet !/2 " to adapt for the 1/4 inch shank bits.

In the manual that comes with the table it states that the 1/4" collet has to be inserted into the 1/2" collet just like a bit. Then you insert your bit and tighten the nut.

I think there is 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets. You might have the 1/2 inch collet in.
