Is this nationally recognized by a testing lab such as Underwriters Laboratories?


It is UL listed, and the recommendations have changed on placement. One INSIDE each bedroom. If the LR/DR is close to the kitchen or hallway w/ Smoke Detectors, I wouldn't worry about it.

1 in each bedroom, 1 in hall or space prior to enter of bedrooms(within 3' of peak if cathedral ceiling), same applies on split bedroom design, 1 per floor if no bedroom, Some enforce within 3' of highest ceiling peak in the house
