What is the maximum range between the base hub unit and the peripheral devices (the thermostat, for example)?

I have 25 devices on my system and it works well. When I installed all my devices, I had them within 6ft of the hub when they were added. I then placed them in their proper locations throughout the house. I placed an extender in my house (1800 square feet) from day 1, it came with the kit. Everything in my system works very well.

15 feet for the range extender if you are lucky. Probably less. Wouldn't know since they don't work.

It would be easier for you to try this out than place confidence in hypothetical theoretical answers. :) I have two range extenders... the entire network of devices appears to hop scotch off of each other - hence the "optimize network" option - which in my imagination causes all devices to look for all others and create links that are most efficient and with the highest signal strengths... I could be wrong but that's how it looks to me :)

The maximum range is not defined but seems to be around 100ft unobstructed. 1.The extenders are intended to create more range for the hub, but at this time are junk and quite literally only work within 10-15 feet of the hub or another extender. The extenders currently are useless in other words. 2. Yes, you can add extender to extender for more range, but as I have pointed out in point 1, it is not really worth it. The devices talk to each other and as such can use one another to extend their physical range. Example would be door lock talks to keypad across room, which talks to contact sensor that is nearby to talk to motion sensor in next room and so on until it reaches the hub. 3. The hub does not officially state how many, but I have heard it is 16 devices. Adding the extender ads another 16 and will hopefully eventually actually add more range.

The distance wireless devices can be away from the hub can vary drastically from house to house based on numerous factors such as walls, flooring, material between the hub and devices, etc. Typically, devices achieve a maximum indoors range of 33 to 100 feet (10 to 30 meters) from the Iris hub. This range can easily be expanded by including additional devices that plug into the wall (which act as range extenders) or by adding an Iris Range Extender. The Iris Hub can support up to 200 devices. Depending on the size, construction, and location of devices in your home, you may require one or more Iris Range Extenders to communicate with all devices. You may also have as many thermostats as needed. Note: In order to reach the maximum number of devices, you will need to add a range extending device, such as an Iris Range Extender, Iris Smart Plug, or other non-battery powered device, for every 15 devices connected to your Iris hub.
