does it work with wireless router

Absolutely! You just need an open port on the back of the wireless router
Was this Answer Helpful ?Nay. You need the iris hub.
Was this Answer Helpful ?it works with the IRIS hub - and how they communicate with each other bypasses the wireless router in your home..
Was this Answer Helpful ?Not entirely sure what you mean, but since this question came up under iris, I assume you mean the Hub. Yes, it does work with a wireless router as does the wireless cameras. The Hub connects with a physical Ethernet cable however, and the cameras require a temporary connection via Ethernet as well for setup. The cameras however connect via the router and talk to the hub, while all other devices talk to the hub which then talks to the net via the router. I have heard that the hub does have wifi support as well, but if it does it does not operate like regular wifi, but rather like zwave. Now, you could make the Hub wireless using a Bridge. This device plugs into the hub via Ethernet, and the bridge wirelessly connects to the router. This is how most computers and non wifi capable electronics used wifi before wifi cards, usb sticks and built in wifi became the norm.

The camera must be configured using an ethernet cable connected to the router. After being configured, the camera will work either plugged in to the router with an ethernet cable or it will communicate with a wireless router. I'm using my camera with a wireless router. Hope this helps. Cheers.

This unit is powered by household current and works on most devices, with WiFi devices such as the Camera being the exception. To extend the range of your WiFi system, you must purchase a WiFi-specific range extender.
