Will this boost wireless signal?


The smart plug seems to be the 2nd gen and does not have a z-wave range extender as the 1st gen does. I've found with the 1st gen plugged in inside the corner of the house that I can get a reliable signal with a motion detector out in my chicken coop. And this begs the question: Why buy the 2nd gen if the 1st has a range extender (extra function) and the 2nd gen does not? Will additional functionality be added later?

Hi Henry, this Smart Plug does extend the range of Zigbee and Z-Wave signals.

It depends on what you mean by "boost wireless signal." Like all the Iris devices, it will only assist the Zigbee or Z-Wave mesh networks. It won't help with Wireless AC, N, or G, which is what computers and phones use.
