Will this sweeper handle long leaf pine needles with out wrapping around the spindle?

The sweeper works really well with pine straw. I sweep 3 acres monthly with it. The only thing to keep in mind is you will need to clear the pine straw periodically so it does not build to the point it make the wheel hard to turn. I clear the pine straw after each use. Nothing a sharp knife can fix!
