Is the controller for this fan in the housing/section just above the lights, or is it at the top where the fixture is affixed to the ceiling (on the top of the downrod)?

Hello Nate, this fan is operated using pull chains, but you have the option to add a remote control. When you add a remote to a pull chain fan, the receiver will be placed in the mounting bracket.
