The ironing board has only two heights, roughly 3" higher then one another

Hi. Yes, it is, but within limitations. Installed, the board has 2 height options: the opening height and about 2 inches above that. You can adjust how how the unit is installed on the wall to tailor ironing heights even more precisely, too. I hope this helps!
