Does the lamp I will be screwing the smart bulb into need to be plugged into some sort of smart plug adapter before using?

No, just install it into a lamp socket (power must stay on to the socket for control to work,) and add the device to the Google Home app. Then you can control it using any Google Home device or the Google Home app.

Was this Answer Helpful ?The lamp that I have is plugged into a 120V receptacle. You will also need to plug in the Google mini in a receptacle. In the Google app you will assign a location and device.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Nope. Just screw thw bulb where you want it to be... i chose a lamp in bedroom .. and just remember to leave the existing light switch/pull chain/knob in the on position at all times so that you can control it as you wish
Was this Answer Helpful ?Nope, every needed circuitry is within the bulb itself. In other words, after the initial setup process, you can move the bulb from one lamp to another within the same wifi network without further work.
