No! A moisture meter can only tell you the content of moisture which is a leading indicator for fungi growth. You have to send a sample of spores to a lab to determine if it's mold or mildew or some other fungicide.

Was this Answer Helpful ?it will tell you when there is a lot of moisture in the wood. i needed to check inside and outside of my home to establish baseline. not too dependable. in the deep south the relative humidity is very high year round. i dont know if thats why i am getting such high readings.. maybe try it on some visible molded areas to get a baseline. i would like to use it on some other houses to get a better baseline
