What configuration is the 30 amp receptical?


The receptacle on the generator for 220V is NEMA L14-30R. The cable end has a connector NEMA L14-30P.

The generator (you can download the manual from Generac) has a standard four lug 30 amp receptacle. I made up a four wire (#10 wire) cord set that plugs directly into the generator. I then put a 4 pin (standard RV 50 Amp service) male plug on it. Now, I just KILL the main on the 200 Amp panel that feeds my 50 Amp Motorhome receptacle. I then BACKFEED the 30 Amp (220 VAC) into the panel and selectively use what I need, obviously NOT leaving everything on. It works great. My pump and Hot water heater and several outlets and lighting circuits have power. I do NOT run the HVAC as I have a heat pump. The generator comes with a 30 amp locking plug with FOUR separate 15 Amp circuits.

Go to the camper place and ask for the dogbone. They will know what it is. Remember you can only use 1 A/C unit with 30 amp unless you enjoy constantly running out of the camper to reset the breaker. The breaker deteriorates each time the breaker is thrown so try to prevent tripping a breaker.
