Stupid ?, What function does the 3600 RPM alternator on the XT8000 Generator provide if it does not recharge the battery?


That is essentially correct. Use the trickle charger on your main power to maintain the generator's battery. You can plug it into the generator itself when it is running, but it will defeat the auto-idle feature.

The charger to which those reviews are referring are for the battery of the electronic ignition system. Once the unit is started you can plug the ignition charger into a socket on the unit and it will charge itself.
