will it run a heat pump if nothing else?


Depends on tonnage and lock rotor compressor amps (startup in rush). Look at the data tag on your condenser - multiply compressor LRA times 240 and this is your startup wattage (plus condenser and indoor fan motors). Multiply compressor RLA times 240 and this is your run load amps. Both need to be under the MAX wattage output for your generator.

WE had an electrician install a panel inside our home for easy use instead of electrical cords running around the house. We have furnace, electric water heater, several rooms of electricity, fridge etc. hooked up to it. the generator can handle.
